Who is Lily von Schtupp?

Our 1961 VW Double-cab Pickup!!!

You have may have owned a Volkswagen of your own in some configuration...a "Bug" or even a "Bus", but we have found very few Double-cabs in our travels. That's one reason we like our little beauty so much! Really, though, it is just a great little truck for our needs here on San Juan Island.

We found Lily in Eugene Oregon, although originally it was exported to Victoria. We have made a few modifications and "Cousin Dave" the Vee-Dub Guru at Country Volks in Coombs, BC jumped in and made a good thing even better. Dave is an old pal from Navy days and we think of him as a close "Cousin"...it's a Hawaii thing...So we get the benefit. This summer Dave (and his Supervisor...Karen) spent a great week with us and other friends. Lily is always the center of attention wherever we go...and "if" you visit, you'll be one of the select few that tours the Island Lily style... What's keeping you?

Dave had Lily up at Country Volks while we were building Foc'l Cottage and beside new paint added lots of TLC. We are very pleased with the results and highly recommend Country Volks if you need help fixing (or finding!) your VW...

Lily, if you remember the Mel Brook's comedy-western Blazing Saddles is the character of Madeline Kahn. We love the movie & especially that character, so we named our little gem after The Teutonic Titwillow.

Here are some new photos, Lily is a daily driver and is the coolest "ride" on the Island.
The paint colour is Poppy Seed Red Lily loves her new home The tail-lights are from a '66 Mustang
