Junovia

Built in Goteberg, Sweden in 1975 by Hallberg-Rassy Boatyard. The model is called the Rasmus which is a Germanic wind sprite. Dimensions: Length - 10.5 Meters (35 ft) Beam - 3.05 Meters (10.5 ft) Draft - 1.3 Meters (4 ft). Sail number HR-438. Purchased: January 2005 in Port Townsend, Washington. We are the fourth owners.

Here it is December, another year adds to the history books. We have been busy throughout the year, our continuing project is Junovia as we make small repairs and cosmetic upgrades. I am happy to report that Darlene has almost all of the teak, mahogany, and bright work looking like it just came from the builder! A lot of elbow grease expended. Of course the best part is sailing. We've visited Port Townsend, Sequim, Victoria, Orcas Island, Roche Harbor, and even our own Port of Friday Harbor whilst clearing U.S. Customs. The boat is great, a very capable sailor, and does well under power.

The summer and early autumn of '06 saw us on an extended cruise for five weeks. We left Cape San Juan August 24th and returned October 5th. The principal area we visited was the Desolation Sound area of the British Columbia coast, including Quadra Island, Pryce Channel, and Pender Harbor. We travelled in company with friends Judi & Jack from Victoria and their boat Majendie (a Lancer 37). We also crossed trails with other cruisers from Canadian Forces Sailing Association where I am still a member. Here are general pictures of Junovia as well as pictures from our trip:
